I created the movie on PBIS after completing the PBIS Independent Module. I created the script for this portfolio. The additional resources reflect some resources I found while researching the topic for the presentation as well as some new resources I located for this portfolio. Putting together this presentation really helped me review the PBIS process step-by-step and understand how schools provide support to students at the different tiers. Learning about functional behavior assessment was very useful in thinking about the dynamics that surround problem behaviors at all points in the behavior spectrum. The classroom management advice and tips for handling agitated students were especially applicable to my day to day teaching experiences and provided advice on how to avoid and de-escalate problem classroom behaviors.
Work on this artifact made me think about how important creating a positive overall school atmosphere is as well as how important it is to have a staff-wide plan of action for dealing with problems when they arise. This made me think about the significance of robust and continuous professional support for teachers in order to ensure that they are aware of the procedures as well as how to effectively implement various behavior improvement plans in order to ensure student success.
